Portrait II — What Are You Separate From?

Lying on the stone slab next to the creek, I feel the hardness of the rock, the coolness of the air. My hat over my face I pause trying to block out the world. The water rushing beside me with its great sound now moves over me, around me, through me. The ear is only a tool. Does sound continue when the body has moved on?
